3. Email password or electronic banking PIN: What is more important to you?
Summer time = travel season!
And 9 of 10 interviewees answered "No" when questioned if they do electronic banking in an Internet café while travelling. Most are very afraid that someone will be spying on their access routines or their personal data.
But for sending private emails, it seems that there is no inhibition threshold since most travelers check their messages while "on the road".
Yet, of all your passwords, your email password could be considered THE most important one. Why? Typically, your email address represents your digital identity in the online world. If you have forgotten the password for one of the sites you frequent, you can receive a new one with the click of a button. This means that a cracker having your email password can force his way into most of your online accounts.
In an atttempt to prevent misuse, many providers have established various security questions. When creating your account you can choose between different standard questions and store your answer, e.g."Who is your favorite sports club" or "What is your mother's maiden name?" Is this secure enough? The terrifying answer from many experts is "NO". In most cases the questions are the same. And many of your acquaintance know your profile; they could have access to any of your accounts.
But even more terrifying is the fact that every participant on the Internet has become a "transparent" human: one entry in a fan forum and the question of your favorite sports club is answered. Have you every "googled" your name or email address? Isn't it facinating how much information the Internet tells another person about you?
Do you take care of your email password like you do your electronic banking PIN? You should. The best solution is to store both; securely encrypted in your private CmStick. The CmStick is not only a memory stick, but it also contains a SmartCard chip that can be used for storing your passwords in a very secure way. Similar technology is used to secure bank cards and personal health data in many foreign countries.
What about travelling? No problem: you can store the mobile version of Firefox on the memory part of your CmStick. Then you can surf in a safe and secure way, from any Internet café, from your CmStick without leaving tracks or even passwords on the café's PC. What is the situation like if the Internet café doesn't allow surfing from USB sticks? Go to the next Internet café that does!
You can secure your CmStick with a master password so that your passwords are protected against misuse by third persons if your CmStick should get lost. Trying to crack the master password by "brute force" is not possible because the CmStick will be locked up for 5 minutes after 5 faulty guesses.
Take advantage of our special offer for travellers. It is bundled with a preinstalled version of Firefox 3.0: purchase - unpack - get started!
